Why they do what they do

This week it's 138! I can't believe that the number of hits are going up. Soon I might buy out Yahoo!. Before I do so, let me air my opinions on certain other walks of life too.

Actually, I would like a correction in the previous statement. I don't "air" my views. I rather "deploy" them. I think our terms too should change as we upgrade our medium. So to get back my focus, let me deplo my opinion on something.

My perceptions on lots of things are changing at a frieghtening rapidity. I don't go "all the way" to grab a drink. This is a far cry from some one who just wouldn't bat an eyelid for drink, workday or not. My opinion on our political system has changed dramatically since last election. Our people have voted out rules with good intention and voted in cardboard leaders and backstreet thugs. How else can you justify ouster of Naidu and Krishna and NDA and entry of Lalloos and the left?

Our people have gone mad. Or have they? Why aren't our rulers explaining anything to the people. I go back to 1996 when a successful film star with a huge fan following gave a five minute video asking people to vote against the ruling government. The opposition parties took the tape to every nook and corner of the state. There isn't a single village or township that hasn't seen the video.

So if the parties wanted, they can take any message to every corner of the country. But why aren't they doing the same for their policies, disinvestment decisions and reform agendas? If the AIDS awareness campaign called Pulliraja can become a household name and the talk of the town, why can't the same happen for their decisions?

People wanted the rulers to explain what they were doing. If not, they tell them to leave. That's precisely what I think has happened.
